Waiting for the surface to show him
why he feels worlds deeper down,
knows he doesn't want to know that
when he sees what he's intent upon
beginning and the ends will coincide.
Self-centered, abandoned, careening
as he looks as far in as he can for the out,
greys glazed like winter gauze across
the gaze of intuition he can't hide
himself much longer from.
