Exposure to freezing

by Erin Mouré

[ poetry - december 04 ]

a zigzag of clothes left
in the path

behind the body would mean paradoxical undressing

attention called out to each syllable

warehouse
grass

detection modulations called out to each syllable

he was found with his spring coat
on him
going face-down

maybe somewhere
none of that
paradoxical undressing

he was just dumped there
detection molecules cried out to each syllable

he was just dumped there
an old crust of snow

with a boy dumped there
minus twenty-eight degrees one a.m.
