The blind dog who sleeps on the blue settee
by Suzanne R Harvey
[ poetry - march 09 ]
His eyes are opaque
Like gray marbles no one wanted
To trade in the Spring shoot
His leg is a blade of granite
Planted in gallant despair
On a floor of faded velvet
He sleeps in a cradle of urine
In the cave of the blue settee
Dreaming of the sapphire ring
The morning he scaled Half Dome
Crowning El Capitan
His legs pulsing like the earth
In a dawn tremor
He held a halo of fire in his hand
Vowing to live forever
In a house bathed in blue light.
