The tethered moon & A death in the act of living

by Colin Gibson

[ poetry - august 12 ]

The tethered moon

The emotion you are trying to describe
is the hanging moon, strung
across an empty sky and pale
like a tethered ewe.

The lithe white moon that wipes
its civil light across the open sky
and frets the steely air
is you.

But the parting moon that tells
a silent lie in tepid white
is true.

A death in the act of living

i mammal eat crunchy
leaf through thick trees
branch out word fatness
those mine yours blue

hunger stretches pale stomach
text wires hang loose
sigh boughs string upwards
heart shaped blue moon

i ache bite mark
i dry toe spit
string smile hoped less
looked in blacked out

yes famous body angle
static over hot dance
still patterns blow out
reset resist repent repeat

crunchy trees fatness blue
stomach over upwards moon
loose spit less out
heart blow low sound
